Nasiruddin, Omi among 5 placed on remand in narcotics case
Nasiruddin Mahmud and Tuhin Siddiqui Omi, who were arrested in the attempt to murder and rape case of Actor Pori Moni, have been placed on a seven-day remand each in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
The three other accused in the case are Lipi Akhter (18), Sumi Akhter (19) and Nazma Amin Snigdha (24). They have been granted three-day remand each.
On Monday afternoon, a team of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested the accused Nasiruddin Mahmud and his accomplices along with one thousand pieces of contraband yaba tablets, foreign liquors and beer during a drive conducted in the capital's Uttara area.
Earlier in the day, a case was filed against Nasiruddin, Omi and four others with the Savar Police Station over rape and murder attempts on actor Shamsunnahar Smrity, popularly known as Pori Moni.
She filed the case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and Penal Code 307.
Pori Moni, in a press conference on Sunday night, alleged that Nasiruddin had assaulted and threatened to murder her at Dhaka Boat Club on Wednesday night.
