Murder case filed against Teknaf OC, 8 cops over major Sinha's death

A case has been filed against Teknaf police station Officer-in-Charge Pradip, Baharchhara Check-post In-Charge Liakat among nine policemen over the killing of retired Army major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan in police firing.

Sinha's sister Sharmin Shahria Ferdous filed the case with the court of Teknaf Upazila Judicial Magistrate court at around 11:30 am today.

Inspector of Baharchhara Police Investigation Centre Liyakat Ali and Officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station Prodip Kumar Das were made first and second accused of the case respectively.

Other accused are policemen Nando Dulal Rakkhit, Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain, Md Abdullah Al Mmaun, Liton Miah, Tutul, and Md Mustafa.

Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farha directed Teknaf Police Station to take the statement of the case. She also directed the police station to inform the court after taking the statement.

The commander of RAB-15 has been given the responsibility of the investigation into the case.

Earlier on Friday night, Sinha was killed in police firing in Cox's Bazar Marine Drive.

Cox's Bazar resident Hamid Ullah said he saw the police firing in which Major (Retd) Sinha was shot and died later. Claiming the incident a murder, he said everything happened in just 30 minutes.
