Miscreants try to kill Liberation War Museum trustee, family
Police arrested the security guard of the house in this connection
Two miscreants on Sunday night attempted to kill Liberation War Museum Trustee Dr Sarwar Ali after entering his Uttara residence in the capital.
The miscreants also tried to kill his wife Makhduma Nargis, daughter Sayma Ali and son-in-law Humayun Kabir. Two of his neighbors who came forward to save them were also stabbed.
However, Sarwar Ali, also the executive president of Chhayanat and the chairman of BIRDEM's board of management, suspected that a militant group might have carried out the attack.
The attackers fled the scene after his neighbors came to rescue them.
Sarwar filed a case with Uttara Paschim Police Station accusing the two attackers and four to five unidentified people, said Officer-in-charge of the police station Topon Kumar Saha.
Police arrested the security guard of the house in this connection, he added.
Police seized seven machetes, a mobile phone set, an electric water heater, chemical spray and synthetic rope that were left behind by the criminals, from the spot, said Topon.
The mobile phone belongs to Sarwar Ali's ex-driver Nazmul. And the security guard and driver talked over the seized phone several times.
