Man arrested for harassing ex-wife
The man threatened his ex-wife saying that he has close contact with the high ups of the administration and the government as well
Police have arrested a man from Ramna area of the capital on Sunday, for allegedly harassing his former wife.
The arrestee was identified as Atiqul Islam babu, a convicted fugitive in a separate case. He recently returned home from abroad.
The arrest was made after a man, on behalf of the woman, sought help through Bangladesh Police's official Facebook page, said Md Sohel Rana, assistant inspector general (media) of the Police Headquarters.
He said police were informed that a lady was being harassed by her ex-husband in various ways.
Normal life of the woman was being disrupted as her ex-husband had been threatening her now and then.
She even could not come out of her shell to share her ordeal with others fearing further hassle, though her life was devastated.
The complainant also attached an audio tape with his message where the accused was heard to abuse the woman verbally and pass various threats over phone.
Responding the complaint, the Media and Public Relations Wing contacted the woman and found out that her ex-husband had been harassing her for a long time.
The man threatened her saying that he has close contact with the high ups of the administration and the government as well.
Later, the officer-in-charge of Ramna Police Station was immediately reported over the issue and directed to take necessary action.
Monirul Islam, the OC, took prompt action in this regard. After further investigation, a police team arrested Atiqul from Raman area of the capital on 21 February, with help of detective branch (DB) police.
