Jubo League leader shot dead in Cox’s Bazar

A Jubo League leader was shot dead in Teknaf of Cox's Bazar while going to the mosque for Fajr prayer on Friday.
Deceased Md Usman Sikder, 35, was the organizing secretary of Sabrang Union Juba League. He was the former vice-president of Teknaf Upazila Chhatra League and former president of Sabrang Union Chhatra League.
He was a resident of Kachubonia village in Teknaf upazila.
Sabrang Union Parishad Chairman Nur Hossain and Upazila Chhatra League President Sultan Mahmud said Usman Sikder had protested against the theft of an easy bike on Sunday.
They alleged that Mohammad Shaker, son of former UP member and BNP leader Mohammad Abdullah, and Kefayet Ullah, son of Mohammad Kasim of Kataboniya, attacked Usman Sikder in Sabrang Nayapara Bazar in broad daylight centring the incident.
Usman Sikder lodged a complaint with Teknaf Police Station over the attack.
Later, while he was going to the mosque for Fajr prayer on Friday, the accused stopped him and shot him several times, Nur Hossain and Sultan Mahmud claimed.
Hearing the gunshots, local people rushed to the spot and rescued Usman.
They took him to the Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Meanwhile, the accused fled the scene.
