JCD men attacked police in Bogura

Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal members allegedly attacked police on Wednesday when the law enforcers tried to bar them from walking on the Bogura central Shaheed Minar premises with their shoes on.

At least five policemen were injured in the attack by the JCD men. They are Additional Superintendent of police (Bogura Sadar Circle) Sanatan Chakraborty, Assistant Sub-inspector Ashraful Islam, Constables Parvez, Mamun and Sifat.

Among the injured, constable Parvez sustained serious injury in his head. He was admitted to Mohammad Ali Hospital in Bogura.

Officer-in-charge of Bogura Sadar police station SM Bodiuzzaman said police arrested 18 Chhatra Dal members for allegedly attacking the law enforcers. A case was lodged against 500 men in this regard.

Witnesses and police said, the incident took place at the central Shaheed Minar in the district near Shaheed Khokon Park area in the afternoon when JCD men gathered at the spot to hold a rally marking the 41st founding anniversary of the BNP's student wing. Chhatra Dal members hurled pieces of bricks at police when they tried to bar them from walking on the Shaheed Minar premises.

Denying the allegation, President of the district unit of Chhatra Dal Abu Hasan said no one walked on the Shaheed Minar premises with their shoes on. Some members may have rushed to the Shaheed Minar when police chased them. Both Chaatra Dal members and police were injured at that time.
