Four, including son sentenced to death in Tangail for killing father

A Tangail court has sentenced four people to death over their involment in a murder.

Tangail Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-2 Judge Farhan Ferdous passed the order on Sunday afternoon.

Each of the convits were also fined Tk20,000.

The four persons sentenced to death are: Asaduzzaman Mia, 42, son of the deceased Abdul Awal from Mirzapur upazila; his aides Lukim Uddin, 40, son of late Hazrat Ali from Bharra village of Nagarpur upazila; Abdul Mannan, 40, son of Jasim Mia from the same village and Zahirul Islam, 55, son of late Abdul Jalil Mia from Mir Kutia village.

All four of the convicts are currently absconding.

According to Public Prosecutor S Akbar Khan, Abdul Awal, 70, from was killed in his own home on July 1, 2013. The deceased's son, Asaduzzaman Mia filed a case on the same day and police started to investigate. Investigation revealed that Asaduzzaman himself and his associates were involved in the murder of Abdul Awal.

Later, when police arrested Asaduzzaman and Zahirul Islam, they confessed before the court. Later they secured bail in that case. Police filed a case against the culprits on August 1 of that year.
