Five 'rapists' arrested in Bhola after gang rape of young girl
The victim is in police custody
Five alleged rapists were detained by a coast guard team from the Buragourango river area of Char Faruki at Chorfashion, Bhola today (Sunday). The team also rescued a girl who had been gang-raped. The Coast Guard later handed the five men over to the police. A case has been filed at the South Aicha police station over the incident.
The commander of the South Aicha Coastguard contingent said that their patrol team heard a girl screaming from a boat and immediately went to investigate. They captured the five criminals and rescued the girl. The five alleged rapists have been identified as Yusuf Hasan Sardar, Sohel Rana Difar, Wasel Ahmed Sikder, Ripan Fakir and Morshed Howlader. They all live in the Char Manika Union under South Aicha Thana. The victim said that she had an affair with Sohel Rana, and that he took her out on Saturday and raped her at a coconut garden in Char Kukri Mukri. Later, five men including Sohel Rana raped her one by one inside a boat the whole night. The girl is now in police custody after being rescued by the Coast Guard. She is a resident of Boro Manika.
The superintendent of police in Bhola, Sarkar Md Kaiser, informed The Business Standard that the police have filed a rape case as the plaintiff against the five men. The officer-in-charge of South Aicha police station, Milon Kumar Ghosh, said that the victim has been sent to the district (Zilla Sadar) hospital for medical examination. The case has been filed under the violence against women and children Act.
