Female gold smuggler put on 3-day remand
During interrogation, she confessed that she was carrying gold bars in her rectum

A Dhaka court today placed a woman on three-day remand for carrying 14 gold bars illegally at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Shikder passed the order after she was produced before the court with a 10-day remand plea, Airport police station's General Recording Officer Sub-Inspector Mahmud Hossain confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
The arrestee, Nilufer Yasmin, arrived at the airport on a flight of Thai Lion Air from Bangkok carrying 1.37 kilogram gold in her rectum early Saturday.
A customs team stopped her at the green channel acting on a tip-off, said Sulaiman Saif, assistant commissioner of Customs.
During interrogation, she confessed that she was carrying gold bars in her rectum.
Later, the gold worth around Tk70 lakh were recovered and she was handed over to police.
