A freedom fighter was beaten to death over a land feud in Mirsharaiupazila of Chattogram on Friday morning, police said.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Shahjahan, 65.

Shahjahan's nephew Hasan said his uncle and some family members came under attack by rival neighbours when they visited the disputed land on Friday morning, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Mirsharai circle) Md Labib Abdullah told The Business Standard.

With critical injuries, Shahjahan was rushed to a local hospital. The on-duty doctors referred him to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

Shilbrata, assistant sub-inspector of Chattogram Medical College Hospital police outpost, said Shahjahan was brought to the hospital around 2:30pm where the duty doctor declared him dead.

Hasan said two other women – Dinara Begum and Tahrima Begum – also got injured in the attack.
