CID arrests 5 people over human trafficking in Spain
They have, so far, arrested 22 members of the illegal human trafficking ring from across the country
The criminal investigation department (CID) of the police has arrested five more people from different parts of the country for their alleged involvement in human trafficking in Spain.
The arrestees are Abdul Jalil of Madaripur, Md Rubel Hossain of Magura and Md Rubel Ahmmed, 33, Md Kutub Uddin, 27 and Parvez Ahmed, 33, of Sylhet.
Farooq Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police (CID-Media), said this at a press briefing on Thursday at the CID headquarters.
While investigating the human trafficking cases filed over in recent Libya killings, CID came to know that the trafficking ring are involved in human trafficking in Spain like Libya and Italy, he said.
During primary interrogation, the arrestees said they were trafficking people in Spain from Bangladesh using the route to India, Dubai, Algeria and Morocco. On the way to the destination, the gang holds the victims hostage in different countries and demands ransoms from the families of the victims upon torturing them and issuing death threats, Farooq added.
The CID, later, has shown the five arrested in the case filed with Paltan police station in connection with the killing of 26 Bangladeshis in Libya.
They have, so far, arrested 22 members of the illegal human trafficking ring from across the country.
CID is investigating 15 cases filed recently across the country in connection with human trafficking.
