Businessman Nasiruddin among 5 sued in narcotics case

A case has been filed against five people including businessman Nasiruddin Mahmud and Tuhin Siddiqui Omi under Narcotics Control Act.

The other three accused in the case are Lipi Akhter (18), Sumi Akhter (19) and Nazma Amin Snigdha (24).

The case was filed with the Airport Police Station in the capital after Monday midnight, Deputy Commissioner of DB Gulshan Division Mashiur Rahman confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.

Police sources said that the accused in the case will be produced before a Dhaka court on Tuesday.

On Monday afternoon, a team of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested the accused Nasiruddin Mahmud and his accomplices along with one thousand pieces of contraband yaba tablets, foreign liquors and beer during a drive conducted in the capital's Uttara area.

Earlier in the day, a case was filed against Nasiruddin, Omi and four others with the Savar Police Station over rape and murder attempts on actor Shamsunnahar Smrity, popularly known as Pori Moni.

She filed the case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and Penal Code 307.

Pori Moni, in a press conference on Sunday night, alleged that Nasiruddin had assaulted and threatened to murder her at Dhaka Boat Club on Wednesday night.

The detainees were taken to the DB office at Mintoo road in the capital following the arrest.
