ASP Khairul new investigating officer in Sinha murder case

Mohammad Khairul Islam, assistant superintendent of police has been appointed as the new investigating officer (IO) of the murder case of retired army major Sinha Md Rashed Khan.

Khairul Islam, also a member of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-7, replaced the earlier investigating officer of the case, Jamilul Haque, assistant superintendent of police RAB-15.

Sinha killing: Probe body to hold public hearing on Aug 16 

Lieutenant Colonel Ashik Billah, director of RAB' Law and Media wing told The Business Standard.

Ashik said the new investigating officer gained a reputation as an IO by showing professionalism and discretion in handling several sensational cases in the past.

Meanwhile, seven accused of the case have been taken to Rapid Action Battalion-15 office in Cox's Bazar from district prison for questioning under the new IO Khairul Islam.

Teknaf OC withdrawn over Sinha killing

The accused includes four suspended policemen including constables Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain, Abdullah Al Mamun and assistant sub-inspector Liton Miah along with three suspects including Nurul Amin, Nijam Uddin and Mohammad Ayas
