3 arrested over youth’s murder at Gazipur Safari Park
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three members of a fraud ring in connection with the death of a youth at Bangabandhu Safari Park in Gazipur's Sreepur on 30 March.
The arrestees are- Masudur Rahman and Abdul Halim of Jhenaidah, and Laltu Mia of Jashore.
Besides, RAB has identified the victim as Kabir Hasan, hailing from Rangpur's Mithapukur area. RAB-1 members used modern technology to identify the youth.
On 1 April, RAB raided various places in Pallabi of the capital and arrested the trio. The arrestees admitted their involvement in the killing during a primary interrogation.
RAB seized a private car, five mobile phones, two laptops, a desktop, cash, various visiting cards, biodatas, blank stamps and various types of seals and office ID cards used in scams from the arrestees.
RAB official Abdullah Al Mamun said, "Another unidentified youth's body was found on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway on 25 March in Narayanganj. The trio confessed that the ring was also involved in that killing."
He said that the arrestees were involved a number of illegal activities, including human trafficking and forgery.
Abdullah Al Mamun, commander of RAB-1's Porabari Specialised Company, said, "Police recovered a youth's body from the southeast side of Gate No 4 of Safari Park on 30 March."
According to Sreepur Police source, the body was recovered around 9 am. Police suspected that the youth was strangled to death.
A case was filed at Sreepur police station on the next day.
