2 remanded over private university student’s 'death after rape' in city 

A Dhaka court on Monday placed two accused in 5-day remand in a case filed in connection with death of a private university female student after rape.

Dhaka Metropolitan Chief Magistrate court judge Al Mamun Bhuiyan passed the order.

Public prosecutor Hemayet Uddin Hiron confirmed the matter, reports Somoy News. 

The female student of a private university died allegedly after being raped in capital's Mohammadpur area. 

Victim's father filed a rape case with the Mohammadpur Police Station of the Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Sunday evening.

 Officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station Abdul Latif confirmed the matter. 

The OC said that a friend of the student forcibly made her drunk at a restaurant at Uttara on 28 January and brought her to his Mohammadpur residence where he raped the girl. 

As the girl fell ill after rape and she was admitted to Anwar Khan Modern Hospital in Dhanmondi. 

Later, the girl died on Sunday morning after being treated in the ICU of the hospital for two days.

Meanwhile, Sub Inspector Mohammad Nazmul of the police station told that the girl's father had come to the police station and filed a rape case.  

So far, two more people, including the prime accused, have been arrested in that case.

Primary interrogation is going on.

The body was sent to the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
