The Rapid Action Battalion arrested 12 members of a gang, some of them are teenagers, on Saturday in Tongi of Gazipur for attacking residents and creating terror in the area.

The gang called "Daring Company", locally known as D Company, was formed through Facebook and Messenger groups, said Rab Media Wing Director Khandaker Al-Moin at a briefing on Sunday.

The gang's patron, Razib Chowdhury Bappi, known as London Bappi, was among the arrestees.

Rab said Bappi used the teenagers to extort money, mostly from auto-rickshaws in Uttara and Tongi, and engaged them in other illegal activities, such as stalking, mugging, and drug consumption.

The gang members were paid Tk300-Tk500 a week, Rab said.

Rab Media Wing Director Moin said the gang with more than 30 members had been active in Tongi and Uttara for about five years. The gang was locally feared as teenage gang.

Earlier on Tuesday, members of D Company stabbed two residents at Archipur of Tongi over a trivial matter. One of the victims later filed a case with Tongi East Police Station.

The gang members vandalised the complainant's house, attacked him for filing the case and stabbed three more people on Thursday.

Then the Rab started combing through the area and made the arrests.
