100 local liquor sellers surrender
Following their surrender liquor sellers made a promise to return to normal life
One hundred local liquor sellers have surrendered to Gazipur police and promised to return to normal life leaving the business of distilled spirits.
They made the promise to Gazipur Metropolitan Police personnel on Sunday.
Gazipur Superintendent of Police Pijush Kumar Dey said the Gazipur Metropolitan Police had raided the Bonogram area of the district two months ago and demolished the production and stock of ingredients of all local liquor found at the spot.
The liquor manufacturers had fled the scene during the raid.
Later, following different initiatives of the Gazipur police, the manufacturers surrendered to the police on Sunday and made the promise to return to normal life.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Anowar Hossain, Assistant Commissioner Abu Lais Mohammad Ilias Jiku and other police officials were present at that time.
Commissioner Anowar Hossain gave directives on how to rehabilitate the liquor manufacturers.
