Zia Charitable Trust graft case: Khaleda challenges High Court’s rejection order on her bail plea
On July 31, a High Court bench rejected Khaleda Zia's bail plea in the case
Khaleda Zia's lawyers filed a petition with the Appellate Division today challenging a High Court order that rejected the bail plea of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case.
The petition consists of 1,401 pages, said Advocate Sagir Hossain Leon, one of the members of Khaleda Zia's panel lawyers.
On July 31, a High Court bench of Justice Obaidul Hasan and Justice SM Kuddus Zaman rejected Khaleda Zia's bail plea in the case.
On October 29, 2018, a special judge court in Dhaka sentenced Khaleda Zia to seven years of imprisonment along with a fine of Tk10 lakh.
The Anti-Corruption Commission had filed the case with Tejgaon police station on August 8, 2011.
