Employer Rokshana Parvin has confessed to beating 12-year-old domestic help Jannati Akter to death at capital's Mohammadpur.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Yasmin Ara recorded Rokshana's statement today.

In her confessional statement under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1898 (CrPC), Rokshana said, "I tortured Jannati as she could not do household works properly on Wednesday and she died after the beating."

Another accused of the murder, Rokshana's husband Sayeed Ahmed, an engineer of Water Development Board, is on the run.

On Wednesday night, Rokshana and her husband took unconscious Jannati to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital. On-duty doctors said Jannati died before arrival at the hospital.

Hospital morgue source said, Jannati's body bore several injury marks and she was probably raped before she died.

Jannati's father Janu Mollah filed a murder case with Mohammadpur police station against Rokshana and her husband the following day.

Police arrested Rokshana on the same day, but could not nab her husband.
