Trader killed in front of son: Ex-MP Awal on 4-day remand

A Dhaka court on Friday placed former Lakshmipur MP, MA Awal on a four-day remand in a murder case filed over killing of a trader in front of his son in Dhaka's Pallabi area.

MA Awal who is the prime accused of the case was arrested from Bhairab area on Thursday. Besides, another two accused Md Sumon Bepari, 33, and Md Roky Talukdar, 25, were also arrested over the matter.
The fifth accused of the case, Md Manik, was killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion. Md Mozammel Haque, commanding officer (CO) of RAB-4, also additional director general, confirmed the matter on Friday morning.
According to the case statement, a group of criminals attacked Shahin Uddin, 33, in front of his house around 4:45pm on May 16.
They stabbed him indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot. A CCTV camera installed nearby recorded the incident.
The plan of the murder was fetched at Awal's Kalabagan house, around four to five days before the killing, RAB said.
