Take legal action against JUST VC: High Court

The High Court today directed the authorities concerned to take legal action against vice chancellor of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) and others for distorting the portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on university's yearly calendar.

The High Court bench of justices FRM Nazmul Ahasan and KM Kamrul Kader passed the order.

Senior advocate MK Rahman stood for petition while Deputy Attorney General Abdullah-Al-Mahmud Bashar represented the state.

Earlier, High Court warned that if the probe committee found the authenticity of the occurrence, legal action will be taken against those responsible.

On October 15 last year, the High Court formed a three-member probe committee to submit a report. According to the probe report, the cabinet secretary directed to take action within one month.

Earlier, the VC and Registrar offered an unconditional apology to the court for the incident.

The vice-chairman Anwar Hossein Bipul filed a writ petition for taking legal action against the VC of JUST and including others involved people for distortion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's portrait on university's yearly calendar of 2018 and 2019.
