Rumpa murder: Saikat placed on 4-day remand
Police produced Saikat before the court with 7-day remand plea
A Dhaka court today placed Rahman Saikat, ex-boyfriend of Stamford University student Rubaiya Sharmin Rumpa, on 4-day remand today.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid also rejected bail plea of Saikat.
Police produced Saikat before the court with 7-day remand plea for his alleged involvement in Rumpa murder.
The detective branch of police detained Saikat for quizzing on December 7. Later he was shown arrest in the case.
Twenty-one-year old Rumpa, a second-year student at the English department of Stamford University Bangladesh, was found dead in the Siddheshwari area of the capital on December 4 night.
Rumpa might have been raped before being murdered, said the forensic doctor who performed an autopsy on her body.
The girl's hands, legs, waist and spinal cord were fractured, he added.
