Provide state privileges to constitutional officers: HC
The HC bench of Justices Obaidul Hassan and Mohammad Ali passed the order on Wednesday
The High Court (HC) has ordered authorities concerned to provide state privileges to constitutional officers -- including Supreme Court justices, district commissioners, and superintendents of police -- under the existing laws.
The HC bench of Justices Obaidul Hassan and Mohammad Ali passed the order on Wednesday after hearing a writ petition filed by Advocate Shahinur Rahman. Advocate Ekramul Haque Titu represented the writ petitioner.
The bench also warned media about reporting on matters concerning the Supreme Court, adding that the earlier statements of Justices FRM Nazmul Ahsan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader was taken out of context, which raised confusion among the people.
On July 31, several newspapers published articles reading only the president and the prime minister of Bangladesh are VVIPs (very very important persons).
