High Court grants bail to Fakhrul, 3 other BNP leaders
The court ordered the BNP leaders to surrender before trial court after end of bail period
The High Court granted eight-week anticipatory bail to four senior BNP leaders including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a case filed for vandalism and assault on police.
The other accused are BNP's standing committee members - Mirza Abbas and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, and Legal Affairs Secretary Barrister Kayser Kamal.
The bench of Justices Jahangir Hossain and Md Riaz Uddin Khan also ordered the BNP leaders to surrender before the trial court after end of bail period.
On November 26, two policemen were injured in a clash between a group of BNP leaders and activists and police when they staged a demonstration near Supreme Court premises seeking BNP chief Khaleda Zia's release.
Some vehicles were also vandalised during the clash.
Police filed the case against 500 leaders and activists of BNP with Shahbagh Police Station.
