The High Court today imposed a ban on printing and displaying laminated campaign posters for the upcoming elections in Dhaka North and South City Corporations.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order today.

The court also asked the authorities concerned including the candidates to follow the order.

Posters in polythene: Hazards of our city polls
Earlier, the councillor candidates declared to print about 10,000 plastic laminated posters each to protect the papers from rainwater and humidity during the campaign.

Although the government promised a clean and green Dhaka city, councillor candidates have flooded their areas with plastic laminated posters.

Earlier, environmentalists and activists expressed their concerns on using polythene-laminated posters which will eventually pollute the environment of the city.
