Mamunul was produced before to the court from DB office
A Dhaka court on Monday placed Hefezat-e-Islam's Joint Secretary General Mamunul Haque on 7-day remand a day after his arrest in a vandalism case filed with Mohammadpur police station in 2020.
The investigating officer of the case sought 7-day remand for proper investigation.
After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari placed him on remand for the days.
Police arrested Mamunul Haque from Jamia Rahmania Arabia Madrasa in Dhaka's Mohammadpur area on Sunday noon.
Mamunul was produced before to the court from DB office on Monday morning.
Public prosecutor Abdullah Abu, said that Mamunul was produced before the court seeking 7-day remand in a case filed in connection with Mohammadpur Police Station.
The plaintiff of the case was attacked by a group men following instruction of Mamunul in Mohammadpur. The attackers also snatched dollar and Tk 5,000 from his possession, said the PP.
Mamunul's lawyer Syed Mohammad Joynal Abedin Mesbah claimed that there is no clear evidence of attack. Besides, police and DB also grilled Mamunul after arrest.
Remand prayer is unlawful and injustice, claimed the lawyer.
