HC stays gazette on 9th wage board

The High Court (HC) on Tuesday issued a two-month stay order on the gazette of upcoming ninth wage board for journalists.

The HC bench of Justice Obaidul Hasan and Justice Mohammad Ali passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed by the Newspaper Owners Association of Bangladesh (Noab) challenging the legality of the formation of the wage board.

Deputy Attorney General advocate Yesmin Begum Bithi represented the state in the case and advocate Usuf Ali appeared for the petitioner.

Noab filed the writ petition with the HC on Monday.
