HC orders issuing of passport to VP Nur within 3 days

The High Court ordered the authorities to provide a passport within three days to Dhaka University Central Student's Union (DUCSU) Vice President Nurul Haque Nur.

A High Court bench of Justice Gobinda Chandra Thakur and Justice Mohammad Ullah passed the order on Wednesday.

The bench declared on Wednesday that a rule given by the High Court on January 23 as appropriate. The rule was issued  in the context of a writ filed by VP Nur when he did not get a passport after applying for one. 

Vp Nur's lawyer Mohsin Rashid, who was present at court on Wednesday, said that after the court order, the High Court ordred the Director General of the Department of Immigration and Passports to provide a passport to VP Nur withing three days. 

VP Nur said he applied for a passport at the Department of Immigration and Passports under the urgent catagory on April 23, 2019. The passport was supposed to have been delivered on May 2 last year. But later the authorities gave various excuses for delaying the passport issue for "mysterious resons". Nur said that he finally  filed a writ at the High Court to get the passport.
