High court on Tuesday granted eight-week anticipatory bail to Former Awami League lawmaker of Pirojpur AKMA Awal and his Wife Lyla Parveen in three corruption cases filed for misappropriating khas (government) land.
The High Court, however, ordered the lawmaker and his wife to surrender before the court in eight weeks.
A High Court bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice AKM Jahirul Haque came up with the orders following three separate bail petitions filed by the accused seeking anticipatory bail in the cases.
Awal, former lawmaker of Pirojpur-1 constituency, and his wife appeared before the High Court today and submitted the bail petitions.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed three separate cases with its integrated district office in Barishal against Awal and his wife for misappropriating khas land.
Advocate Aushafur Rahman appeared for the petitioners while Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan represented the ACC.
