Five more murder cases filed against Hasina
Ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina has been sued in six more cases, including five lodged over murders that took place during the recent anti-discrimination student movement in the capital.
The cases were filed with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court today (2 September).
After recording the complainants' statements in four murder cases, the court asked Jatrabari Police Station to file the matters as a first information report (FIR). The court asked the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate two other complaints against Sheikh Hasina and her associates.
Mariam, mother of Saif Arafat Sharif filed one case against 94 people, including Sheikh Hasina for killing her son while he was working as a volunteer in front of Jatrabari Police Station. The other prominent accused in the case are Obaidul Quader, Shamim Osman and Nazrul Islam Babu.
Another case was filed against 13, including Hasina and Obaidul Quader, over the murder of Saidul Islam Yasin in the capital.
Sheikh Hasina and 57 others were sued in another case filed over the murder of Obaidul Islam.
Another case was filed against Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader and 34 others over the killing of Russel in the Kajla area on 5 August.
Hasina, former health minister Samanta Lal Sen and 136 others were sued over the murder of Shuvo in the capital's Dhanmandi area. The court asked the PBI to investigate the matter and file its report.
An attempted murder case was filed against Sheikh Hasina and 32 others over the alleged shooting of one Ashfik Ibn Arman. Victim's father Md Arman Ali filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Afna Somi. The court asked the PBI to investigate the matter.
