Dhaka South commissioner Manju put on 10-day remand

A Dhaka court on Friday placed Dhaka South City Corporation commissioner Moynul Haque Manju on a 10-day remand in two separate cases filed against him for illegal possession of weapons and drugs.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Viman Chandra Mondol granted the remand as police produced Manju before the court with a 14-day remand prayer.

Wari police station's Sub-inspector Sahera Begum confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.

The Rapid Action Battalion detained Dhaka South's Ward No 39 Councillor Moynul Haque Manju from his office in the capital's Tikatuli area on Thursday.

The elite force lodged two cases against him under the arms and the narcotics control acts with the police station the same day.
