Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain has ordered that the prisoners should not be brought to the court using prison vans or by any other modes for their bail hearings or trials in the current coronavirus situation.
The chief justice directed the lower courts of the country on Thursday about the matter.
Following the order, this is not necessary for the prisoners to appear in the court physically for the court proceedings during this coronavirus outbreak, according to the Supreme Court administration.
Mohammad Saifur Rahman, special officer of Supreme Court (district judge) confirmed the matter to the media.
"Until further directives, the court proceedings should continue through the designated lawyers of the prisoners," he said.
To keep people and the prisoners safe from coronavirus, the chief justice has issued this order, he added.
