Chamber court suspends HC bail order of ex-Jubo League leader Arman
The Appellate Division Chamber Court has suspended the High Court's (HC) bail order granted to the former vice president of Dhaka South City Jubo League Enamul Haque Arman.
Chamber Judge of the Supreme Court's Appellate Division, Justice Nuruzzaman passed the order after hearing the state's application on Sunday.
Additional Attorney General Momtaz Uddin Fakir and Deputy Attorney General Biswajit Debnath represented the state at court.
Deputy Attorney General Biswajit Debnath confirmed the court order to reporters.
On September 10, the HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Mostafizur Rahman granted Arman eight-week bail in the case over his alleged involvement in illegal casino operations.
On August 23, the HC issued a rule on his bail, fixing the date of the rule hearing for September 10. On that day, the HC declared the rule appropriate and granted bail to Arman.
Later, the state applied for stay of the bail granted by the High Court.
When the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) launched a crackdown on casinos in the capital last year, casino kingpin Dhaka South Jubo League President Ismail Hossain Samrat and vice-president Enamul Haque Arman went into hiding.
On October 5 last year, RAB raided Kunjusshree village in Alkura Union of Cumilla's and arrested them from the house of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Munir Chowdhury in that village.
