11 get life sentence in student murder case

A Mymensingh court sentenced 11 persons to life-term imprisonment in college student Shihab murder case.

Sessions Judge Ehsanul Haque delivered the verdict Wednesday afternoon. The court also fined Tk20,000 each or more six-month imprisonment in default.

The convicts are Mofazzal Hossain, 26, Polash, 22, Mostafa Kamal, 30, Joj Miah, 23, Khokon Miah, 35, Ilias, 18, Mamun, 21, Sabuj Miah, 20, Alam Miah, 22, Sohag Miah and Anwar, 19.

Among them, Anwar, Sohag and Alam are fugitives. 

According to the case statement, Shihab Hasan Babu, 20, was a first year student of Gurudayal Government College of Kishoreganj. He also worked as a cable operator. 

On October 19, 2012, Shihab went outside and did not return home. His dead body was recovered on October 21 from Brahmaputra River. 

On the same day, Shihab's mother filed a case with Pagla police station.
