A Chattogram court on Tuesday sent Golzar Begum, wife of sub-inspector of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) in Dhaka Nawab Ali, to jail.
Golzar Begum surrendered in the court of Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman at around 11:30 am on Tuesday in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and filed a bail petition.
The court rejected the bail plea and sent her to jail.
Golzar Begum is the organising secretary of Chattogram Mahanagar Mahila Dal.
ACC's lawyer Mahmudul Haque said, the court had issued arrest warrant against Golzar Begum, her husband SI Nawab Ali and four others on 25 February after accepting the chargesheet filed by the ACC in the case.
