The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Friday filed a case against the Majhihatto Union Parishad chairman over storing government relief rice meant to be distributed among the poor.

Aminul Islam, assistant director of ACC Bogura office, filed the case against the BNP-backed Chairman Mirza Golam Hafiz.

Acting on a tip-off, Shibganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Alamgar Kabir raided the union parishad chairman's house on Wednesday evening and found 330 kilogram rice stored. Police subsequently arrested the BNP leader.

However, locals claimed that Hafiz is not involved in any political party currently.
