Cop among 2 die in Narayanganj road crashes

Two people including a sub-inspector of police were killed in separate road accidents in Narayanganj's Rupganj upazila Friday.

Mahmudul Hasan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rupganj police station, confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.

The victims are police SI Fazlul Haque, hailing from Cumilla's Chandina and Tanveer, 16, of Daudpur union of Rupganj.

Fazlul worked at the special branch under Dhaka Metropolitan Police and was going to Brahmanbaria from the capital on Friday afternoon.

His bike collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction at Nalpathar area, leaving Fazlul critically injured.    

He was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead.

On Friday morning, Tanveer was going to a local bazaar from his residence. His bike had a head-on collision with a tractor at Birhataba area of the upazila, leaving the teen dead on the spot.

On information, police recovered the body and seized the tractor, said Rupganj police OC Mahmudul.
