China returnee student hospitalised in Rangpur
"It can't be confirmed without medical test whether he is infected with coronavirus or not"
One Bangladeshi student, who returned from China recently, was admitted to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital on Saturday with early symptoms of coronavirus.
"The patient is undergoing treatment at the hospital right now. It can't be confirmed without medical test whether he is infected with coronavirus or not," Dr Abdul Mokadam, assistant director (Administration) of Rangpur Medical College said.
"We have isolated him from the general patients," he added.
"After returning from China, he was in good health, but he was not feeling well for last few days," according to family sources.
A total of 8,484 passengers, who returned home from the coronavirus-struck country China, have been screened at the airport till now. All the Bangladeshis are now in good health, the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) confirmed today.
The coronavirus that believed to have originated late last year in a seafood market in China's Wuhan city which has spread to Chinese cities including Beijing and Shanghai, as well as the United States, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Australia, France, Canada and India.
Across China, there were 3,399 new confirmed infections on Friday, bringing the total accumulated number so far to 34,546, the country's National Health Commission said on Saturday.
