Chattogram Samiti-Dhaka elects new president, secretary

Former election commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mobarak and former director general of the Immigration and Passport Department Md Abdul Mabud took over as the newly elected president and general secretary, respectively, of Chattogram Samiti-Dhaka on Tuesday.

They were elected to their posts at an event at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium.

Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, principal secretary to the Prime Minister attended the event as the chief guest.

"Chattogram Samiti-Dhaka has been playing an important role in upholding the rich heritage of Chattogram," said Kaikaus. He praised the association for its various social services and human development activities.

Convenor of the installation committee Md Abdul Karim said the residents of greater Chittagong who were living in Kolkata then established the association in that city more than a 100 years ago. 

Among the newly elected office bearers, former secretaries Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury and Md Didarul Anwar were also present at the event.
