Celebrate Eid staying wherever you are, PM urges

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged the countrymen not to move during this coronavirus wave and celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr wherever they are staying now.
She asked the people not to risk their lives amid the spread of the virus.
PM said this while speaking at the inaugural function of the new 'Infrastructure and Ships' of various agencies of the Shipping Ministry at Ganobhaban on Thursday morning.
At the time, PM said that 10,000 km of river dredging would be done by 2025 to make the waterway more effective.
The Prime Minister said, "We have taken special steps for river dredging, water conservation, flood control and dam control. Since coming to power in 2009, I have taken steps through various ministries to conserve water in all rivers, canals, ditches and reservoirs and I am continuing that work."
"We have planned to dig 10,000 km of rivers by 2024-25. You cannot just dig them, you have to arrange for dredging every year. Because our rivers carry the most silt, we have to keep an eye on that," she added.
Earlier on Wednesday, restricting inter-district movements until 16 May, the government issued a notification saying buses, trains and launches with Eid holidaymakers will not leave Dhaka before the upcoming Eid like the previous year.
In the six-point notification, the government said all public, autonomous and private office staffers will have to stay in the workstations during the Eid holidays.
