Police recovered the hanging bodies of a businessman and his son from Moghbazaar's Noyatola area in the capital on Wednesday night.

The deceased were identified as Khairul Islam Sohag, 55 and his son Shaharat Islam Orin, 14.

On information, a team of police of Hatirjheel Police Station recovered the bodies from the 4th floor of a building in the area, said Ashik Hasan, assistant commissioner of Tejgaon Industrial Zone police.

The body of Khairul Islam was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a room and his son's body in another room of their flat, said the police official.

The bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Khairul had been living in the building with his family members for the past few years. He had been suffering from mental problems since the huge loss of money in his business. He was not recovering even after receiving treatment. His son was an autistic boy.

The incident took place when Khairul's wife went outside for shopping. After returning home, when she knocked on the door, did not get any response from inside.

As the door was opened in alternative ways, the bodies were found in the flat.

Police primarily suspected that Khairul committed suicide after killing his son.

Khairul's wife filed an unnatural death case with Hatirjheel Police station.
