A 12-year-old boy died after his co-worker pumped air into his body through his rectum at Muroil village of Kahalu upazila in Bogura on Friday.

The victim was identified as Alal, a worker of Afrin Jute Mill in the upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Kahalu Police Station Zia Latiful Islam said Alal's co-worker Jatan inserted a pump nozzle into his rectum while he (Alal) was cleaning the floor at the factory in the morning. Alal fell sick and was taken to Shaeed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 3 pm.

A case was filed in this connection, he added.

Police arrested Jatan from the area.
