Barguna’s teenager Hridoy murder: Case filed naming 20

A murder case has been filed citing the names of 20 people involved in the killing of teenager Hridoy in Barguna. The case was filed at Barguna Sadar Police Station around 10:30 pm on Tuesday by Hridoy's mother, Firoza Begum.

Additional Superintendent of Police of Barguna Sadar Circle Md Shahjahan Hossain said this at a press conference at the office of the Superintendent of Police in Barguna at 11 pm on Tuesday.

He said, "Shortly after the attack on Hridoy, we reviewed the video footage, spoke to eyewitnesses and arrested seven people on suspicion of involvement. Firoza Begum, the mother of the deceased, filed a murder case mentioning the names of 20 people, including seven arrested in the case. In addition, 14-15 more unidentified people have been accused of being involved in the murder."

"Those who were arrested as suspects before the case was filed will be shown arrested in the case as their names are mentioned in the case," he continued.

He also said that efforts are being made to arrest others accused in the case, adding "Since we have not yet been able to arrest all the accused in the case, we are not disclosing the names of those accused in the case in the interest of speedy arrest."

According to Barguna Sadar Police Station, the seven arrested are Noman Kazi, 18, Helal Mridha, 26, Sagar Gazi, 16, Emon Hawlader, 18, Rana Akon, 16, Shafiqul Islam Gharami, 15 and Helal Fakir, 21.

Earlier on Eid day (Monday) afternoon, Hridoy went for a walk with friends at Golbunia Bulk Yard on the banks of the Payra River in Barguna. At that time, Hridoy protested as the accused harassed a female friend who was with Hridoy and also due to previous enmity. When the two sides got into an argument, the accused beat some of Hridoy's friends and seriously injured them.

Later, the locals rescued the injured and admitted them to Barguna General Hospital. The critically injured Hridoy was sent to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Hridoy died on Tuesday morning while undergoing treatment there.

BENEATH THE SURFACE
The Dazzling Fake Flowers: Is there any alternative to artificial flowers while decorating homes, showrooms, offices and business establishments? Fresh flowers are undoubtedly beautiful, but they dry out quickly. Hence, the demand for plastic flowers is rising day by day. Traders said these lifelike silk flowers usually come from China and Thailand. The photo was taken from the 29th International Trade Fair of the Chattogram Chamber on Friday.
