Bangladesh’s Faysal named “Commonwealth Young Person of the Year 2021”
A Bangladeshi youth named Faysal Islam has won the title of Commonwealth Young Person of the Year 2021 for co-founding "Safewheel", which provides affordable emergency medical services through mini three-wheeled ambulances and trained on-board medical staff to rural areas.
He has also become the regional winner for the Commonwealth Youth Awards for Asia because of his part in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through his project.
"I am extremely honoured to receive this award. This recognition will help my project grow even more and serve more people," Faysal said in reaction.
Faysal Islam is the co-founder and chief business development manager of "Safewheel". This initiative has already assisted 1000 people with its current establishments.
Alongside Faysal four others from Grenada, Samoa, Sierra Leone and UK have been also recognised as the regional winners for the Commonwealth Youth Awards for their exceptional work on promoting clean energy, good health, food security and quality education.
