Bangladesh Coast Guard seizes 9 tonnes of Jatka
The seized jatkas were later distributed among local orphanages and the people in need.
Bangladesh Coast Guard has seized approximately 9 tonnes of Jatka during two separate operations in Mawa and Narayganj.
Mawa station of Bangladesh Coast Guard conducted a special operation on the River Padma near Kabutarkhola area and seized a speed boat with approximately 2,600 kg of Jatka.
On the other hand, Pagla station seized about 6,200 kg of Jatka in a special operation at No-5 no fish market of Narayanganj Port under the leadership of Station Commander Lt M Ashmadul Islam.
The seized jatkas were later distributed among local orphanages and the people in need.
There hasn't been any arrest as the owners of illegal Jatka were not found in those two raids.
Regular operations will be carried out in the areas under the jurisdiction of Bangladesh Coast Guard to control law and order, curb robberies and ensure public safety as well as prevent illegal fishing and jatka killing.
