The attackers of Dinajpur's Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wahida Khanam and her father will be brought under trial and given exemplary punishment.

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said this today at a programme in Bochaganj Upazila Parishad of Dinajpur.

He said, "Law enforcement agencies have already arrested two persons over the attack. The government has taken the incident seriously and will ensure exemplary punishment to the culprits."

"Government officials and employees are playing the most important role in the implementation of the government's manifesto. It makes us concerned when these officers are attacked. Attacks on them must be properly judged. The incident of attack on them must be properly put under trial. The government is determined in this regard," the minister added.

Regarding the treatment of the injured UNO, Khalid Mahmood said that all measures have been taken by the government. In the meantime, the prime minister has said that if required, she will be sent abroad for treatment.
