Army chief inaugurates 30 newly built dispensaries across country
Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman today (1 October) inaugurated 30 newly established medical dispensaries in various districts including Dhaka.
He inaugurated the dispensaries through video teleconferencing from the inaugural event held at the medical dispensary set up for Dhaka district at ECB premises, reads an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release.
He then interacted with retired armed forces personnel.
It should be noted that for the welfare of the retired members of the armed forces currently 31 medical dispensaries are being run in different districts of the country by the Bangladesh Armed Forces Board with the funding of army, navy, air force and army welfare organisations.
With the commencement of operations of 30 more new medical dispensaries 1,55,264 retired armed forces personnel and their families in 61 districts of the country will get medical services more easily. It may be noted that in the remaining 3 districts, the retired members of the armed forces and their families get the necessary medical care from the Main Dressing Stations (MDS) run by the army. Setting up medical dispensaries in every district will save them both money and time and also reduce the problem of collecting medicine from far away elderly members to a great extent.
Apart from this, efforts are underway for the capacity building of CMHs for medical care of retired armed forces members and their families, and for the construction of private hospitals is under process. Ration allowance of retired armed forces personnel has also been increased. He expressed hope that the standard of living of retired armed forces members and their families will be improved to a large extent by taking several more steps in this regard by the armed forces.
Chief of General Staff of Army, principal staff officer, senior officers of Armed Forces besides Department of Armed Forces, senior officers of Civil Administration of various districts (through VTC), retired members of Armed Forces and their families and media persons were present at the inaugural event.
