Interim govt to be formed; every atrocity will be investigated: Army chief
He is holding talks with political parties to resolve the ongoing political crisis.
Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman said an intermin government will be formed.
At the same time, every death and other atrocity will be investigated, he said in a press briefing this afternoon.
Zaman said Sheikh Hasina has resigned from her position and thus an interim government will be formed.
He urged the people to cooperate and ensure peace.
"Aid us in this step. We will not achieve anything else through fighting and violence. I urge you all to stop all conflicts and destruction."
He said they had met all political parties and held a good discussion.
No Awami League leader was present in the meeting with political leaders of the country, he added.
In response to this question of the journalists, the army chief said he had a meeting with BNP, Jatiya Party and Jamaat-e-Islami.
"We will now go to Bangabhabhan. There will be a detailed discussion about the formation of the interim government."
"Our country is being damaged, in terms of economy, our structure," he said urging the people to cooperate with the army in remedying these.
Meanwhile, all roads to Shahbagh were opened and people also thanked the army for this decision by giving them flowers.
Earlier, Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman was about to address the nation at 2pm, which was later postponed till 3pm.
The army chief has urged the countrymen to keep patience till then.
