The victim, Firoj Sarder, a final year student of Social Work Department, lost his hand while returning to Rajshahi from his hometown Bogura

The Rajshahi College student who lost his arm to reckless driving on Friday is out of danger, said doctors.
“He has got back his consciousness on Saturday morning,” said Dr Alamgir Hossein, assistant professor of Surgery Department of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).
The victim, Firoj Sarder, a final year student of Social Work Department, lost his hand while returning to Rajshahi from his hometown Bogura. Firoz’s right hand was crushed between the bus he was on and a speedy truck.
In the meantime, teachers, students and Firoz’s classmates formed a human chain in front of the administrative building of the college, protesting the accident.
They demanded immediate arrest of the drivers and compensation for the victim.
Last year, Rajib Hossain, a student of Titumir College in Dhaka, lost his hand in such reckless driving, and later succumbed to his injuries.
The tragic incident stirred the social media, drawing a huge outcry.
Expressing grave concerns over road safety, the High Court later ordered the authorities concerned to pay Tk50 lakh to Rajib's family.
