Andrew Kishore laid to rest in Rajshahi
His body was buried at the Christian Cemetery next to the Collectorate Ground in Rajshahi city at around 11:30 am on Wednesday
Playback legend Andrew Kishore has been laid to rest in Rajshahi as per his last wishes.
His body was buried at the Christian Cemetery next to the Collectorate Ground in Rajshahi city at around 11:30 am on Wednesday. The graves of his mother, sister and brother are also there.
His body was taken to Rajshahi City Church from Rajshahi Medical College Hospital at 9:00 am. People from all walks of life came there from different parts of the country and paid homage to him.
Fazle Hossain Badsha, lawmaker from Rajshahi Sadar constituency, Khaled Masud Pailot, former captain of Bangladesh Cricket Team, Zayed Khan, general secretary of Bangladesh Film Actors' Association, and Ethun Babu, lyricist and music composer, were present among other artists of the film industry at the time.
Earlier, a stage was set up in front of Rajshahi City Church on Tuesday night for paying respect to the legendary singer. Andrew Kishore's wife Lipika Andrew, son Joy Andrew Saptak, daughter Minim Andrew and his close relatives built the stage.
Andrew Kishore's brother-in-law Dr Patrick Bipul Biswas said, "Before dying, Andrew Kishore was asking about his children. He told us to wait for his children after his death. So we had been waiting so long for his children. His son arrived in Rajshahi from Australia last Thursday and his daughter on Monday."
On the evening of July 6, Andrew Kishore passed away at his sister's residence in Mahishabathan area of the city after fighting cancer for 10 months.
